This shoot was all Emily's idea. Well, except the stool. The stool was ALL me. Canadian tuxedos and all. To be fair, she didn't even know that was a thing until after the fact, but - nevertheless, this is the resulting look. - A
I was going for that ultimate 90's GAP ad vibe. You know, those simple denim-on-denim ensembles that look effortlessly styled and coordinated, just by happenstance with no effort? That look. I wanted us decked out in denim and white, juxtaposed against the rugged beauty of the Dequindre Cut - one of Detroit's hidden gems. This former railroad line turned 2-mile greenway allows users to connect from the River Walk all the way to Eastern Market. There's bike & walking paths, along with ramp exits to each of the major crossroads. But mostly, there's greenery and some beautiful graffiti art to be admired along the way, adorned on each of the underpasses.
If you've never been, put it on your list of places to explore this spring! Get some exercise by biking or walking the path, or enjoy a leisurely afternoon picnicking on the concert pavilion steps. When we moved downtown last year, we began the tradition of waking up early every Saturday morning and riding our bikes to Eastern Market with empty backpacks. The ride home was a bit more difficult due to our sacks being filled with the fresh produce! We can't wait to do it again all spring and summer long! - E
