Masonic March Madness
Despite the lingering winter weather, I'm a big fan of March. The NCAA Tournament adds to the excitement of this crazy month - and we're both very excited to see Michigan in the Final Four! I pulled together this pre-spring outfit and took a walk with Em around Detroit's Masonic Temple - one of the most imposing buildings in the city. Before the advent of radio, TV and social media, people actually met up at social clubs to, you know...talk to each other.
What a novel concept!
The Masonic Temple in the 1920's was one of the premier places to gather for social events. The secretive Freemasons gathered here to hold their meetings, and the famed Temple Auditorium has hosted concerts, plays, and other major events over the course of several decades. The Temple is the largest of its kind in the world - over 12 million cubic feet. My Dad was a Freemason and spent many days here as part of the Knights Templar. I've seen Jack White perform here (solo and with the White Stripes), and my cousin got married in one of the temple's beautiful cathedrals. Em and I also come here every October for the amazing Theatre Bizarre Halloween spectacular.
With over 1000 rooms, the temple holds many secrets...perhaps you can join us at Theatre Bizarre and explore it with us! Until then, here's my spring look. Blue shirt, green joggers, and white shoes - this is a great outfit for any nice day outside in the D.
