A note from Emily
I started Dssentials in Detroit in 2022, in the middle of working full time at Ford and raising two girls under three. I'd spent years building brand strategy at the enterprise level, and I kept noticing the same gap: small businesses doing meaningful work with online presences that didn't reflect it.
So I started building for them. First for friends. Then referrals. Then clients I'd never met who found me because the work spoke for itself.
The name came from what the studio would always come back to — digital and design essentials. The 'D' carries both, and that duality has been baked into everything from the beginning.
Dssentials exists because I believe elevated design shouldn't be reserved for companies with agency budgets. Creativity is the great equalizer. Every business at its tipping point deserves a brand and website built with real strategy behind it.
